There are some spoilers for One Piece, but much of post-Whole Cake Island has been altered in some way, so very few aspects are truly spoilers for the series. Overview

CraSan (also referred to as Croissant or simply 🥐) is a fanmade relationship between the characters Charlotte Cracker and Vinsmoke Sanji from One Piece. It is a crackship between two characters that have never interacted with one another, so there is no canonical reference for their potential relationship. As such, the wonderful, humble, attractive author asks the readers to kindly use their imagination and have mercy on them as you read this wiki.Cracker and Sanji had no sort of relationship - romantic or otherwise - prior to being married. Their marriage was arranged by Charlotte “Big Mom” Linlin to form a political alliance with the Vinsmokes and, by extension, Germa 66. Vinsmoke Judge, father to Sanji, successfully convinced Big Mom that Sanji had the same superhuman genetic advancements as his siblings. This enticed Big Mom as she was always looking to expand her family. She took the deal and picked who she believed would be the best companion for Sanji: Her tenth son and devoted commander, Cracker.According to Big Mom, Cracker had been chosen for his height, strength, and loyalty. Although this may have all been true, Cracker would later note that he believed that the real reason he had been chosen was to remind him that - though she allowed him to alter his body as he pleased as a transgender man - he still belonged to her, and to heighten his comically low pain tolerance. Being a high-ranking Sweet General and a Minister, Cracker found the setup to be unfair, but he didn’t dare speak out against his Mama. Anything he could do to help his family would be honorable in his eyes.Cracker wanted nothing more than for Sanji to fulfill his portion of the deal and run away with his pirate friends, but Sanji wasn’t so willing. The urge to make a run for it was there, but he ultimately decided to stay with Cracker as he refused to leave his future children behind to be tainted by Big Mom’s mentality. That, and he also saw something in Cracker that was promising. He was awful, but there were things about him that he was quickly starting to love.Sanji assumed that the Strawhats would respect his decision to leave, but Luffy would arrive on Whole Cake Island alongside Nami, Brook, Chopper, Carrot, Pekoms, and Pedro two days after the wedding. With Brook, Pekoms, and Pedro already out on their side mission to find the Poneglyph, the Sanji Retrieval Team would run into Brulee and Cracker in the Seducing Woods where the canon fight would commence. After defeating Cracker, Luffy and Nami would run into Sanji as he was walking to the coast to meet Cracker and catch a ride back to Biscuits Island. It was there, in the middle of the road, that Sanji and Luffy would have an argument about whether or not Sanji would be rejoining the Strawhats. It ended when Sanji made it clear that he would be staying, and that if they ever wanted the chance to see him again they would need to stop their rampage before everyone on the island wanted them dead. The Strawhats relationship with Big Mom had been sour from the start thanks to what happened on Fishman Island, but now that they were willingly leaving the island without causing more damage and leaving Sanji, they had a better chance to see him - just far, far away from Totto Land. Before they left, Luffy and Nami would follow Sanji back to where Cracker landed so that he could tear a piece of his Vivre Card and give it to them. Cracker was still knocked out at that point, but he would later say that Luffy had been a worthy opponent in terms of resilience. He also said that the witch that came with him cheated. The Strawhats would leave with the piece of the Vivre Card and a copy of the Poneglyph in hand. Much of the subplots from Whole Cake would go as they do in canon.

Character Growth

The first roadblock in their relationship was one that would have to be slowly, carefully removed with time: Cracker’s pride. Sanji almost had to treat Cracker like a feral animal. He couldn’t move too fast or he’d just end up pushing Cracker further away. Cracker had spent the majority of his life being used as a soldier more than a son, and had to share his Mama’s attention with an ever-growing number of siblings. He loved his siblings more than life itself, and, even after facing the harsh reality that he had been neglected and abused, he felt the same way about his Mama as well. That being said, the love shared with his siblings could never equate to the love he should have received from his parents. Because of this, his self-worth was based only on bloodshed and how low he could bow his head. He felt that he was only lovable when he was useful, and he convincingly covered up that insecurity with his pride. He could say his true feelings in front of some of his siblings, but he wouldn’t dare show anyone else any weakness. He always had to be in control, because if he wasn’t in control he was useless.Being from a background of abuse and neglect himself, though turning out much different due to Zeff’s unconventional love, Sanji saw right through Cracker. Part of the reason he stayed behind was because he wanted to help. Obviously, protecting his future child(ren) from Big Mom’s influence was his top priority, but he wanted to try his hand at helping someone that was hurting while he was there. He had nine long months to spend with him, so what was the harm in trying?A big strain on their bonding was the death of Big Mom. She had fallen to her enemy, and, while her body had never been recovered, she was gone. Cracker was forbidden from doing any sort of commander duties until he had produced offspring for Linlin, which meant that he wasn’t there to help her win her final fight. Upon receiving the news, Cracker became hysterical. He spent a good hour punching the floor, screaming, throwing things, and sobbing. Sanji managed to coax Cracker to go outside where they would end up sitting and discussing Cracker’s past and their future with one another. With Big Mom no longer a threat to Sanji’s safety, he could have left at any moment without any fight whatsoever, but Sanji stuck by his plan to see this through. That plan was almost threatened when it seemed like Cracker would no longer be willing to go through with it, but he ultimately decided that being a father was something he wanted as well. Cracker worked through the guilt he felt for not being there when Big Mom needed him, and also the guilt he felt by feeling relieved that she was gone. He still loved and missed her, but he no longer felt like his life could be taken at any moment. His and his family's lives weren’t being put in jeopardy by Big Mom’s dealings as an Emperor, and she couldn’t go into a food-motivated rage and take their lifespan. He looked forward to raising a family with someone that came pre-installed with empathy and a family that no longer had to fight for their lives.Shortly after the death of his mother, Cracker would find himself frozen solid. Sanji happened to be working in his restaurant nearby when it happened, and he was able to thaw him out in time thanks to his previous experience. Though he had been saved, Cracker would suffer long-term effects of the prolonged exposure. Some of these conditions included peripheral neuropathy and severe joint pain. For weeks, he relied on Sanji's help doing tasks that required full use of his hands such as taking care of his mass of hair or eating. Thankfully, the worst of the pain would go away, and he would fully regain the ability to use his hands and walk without stumbling, but he would never be truly cured. The chronic pain from his neuropathy would follow him for the rest of his life, and he would have to rely on pain medications just to get by.The hardest part of their relationship prior to the birth of the twins would be the pregnancy itself. Cracker became very uncomfortable very quickly and made it Sanji’s problem. He refused to be touched or even looked at after a certain point. He would hide in his bed under the covers and would only emerge when he absolutely needed to. He refused to eat, leave his room, see doctors, or even speak to any of his family members. It wasn’t that he was depressed - Sanji found it to be something closer to shame. He didn’t want to be seen or perceived in a weakened state that threatened his status as a powerful man. Not even Sanji could see him. Sanji would apologize countless times for the pain Cracker was in even though it was no fault of his own, and Cracker would just brush him off. When Cracker did allow himself to eat, it would bring Sanji joy like he had never felt before. There was some fear that Cracker wasn’t actually pregnant due to the lack of physical changes he seemed to be going through, but Cracker remained firm in his stance that he wouldn’t see a doctor until it was time. In the end, thankfully, everything worked out.

Relationship Dynamic

GeneralSanji and Cracker’s relationship is constantly evolving. Starting off as nothing more than two people forced to be together, they formed a bond through their shared experiences with traumatic upbringings and end up exploring gender, intimacy, and vulnerability with one another through the many trials they are put through. In day-to-day domestic life, Sanji and Cracker are very playful and often enjoy bickering with one another over meaningless things. They love to make eachother laugh, and very rarely take what the other says very seriously (Cracker more than Sanji). Any arguments they may have are typically settled with Sanji crowned victor because if his words don’t work, his feet sure will.“I love you” isn’t usually spoken, but the feeling is there. If it is being said, it is Sanji that is saying it, and it is always reciprocated. They are both very physical lovers when it’s just the two of them. If they’re doing any task together, chances are they are leaning on one another in some capacity. Sanji likes to lay his head on Cracker’s lap, and Cracker likes to lay on Sanji with his full body weight (It’s fun when he struggles!)CrackerCracker is in a constant battle with his inability to be vulnerable around anyone in any capacity. At first, he struggled to accept any affection as it was foreign to him and he didn’t want anything to be expected of him in return. He also struggled to show affection for the same reason. He craved it, but he didn’t understand it. With careful maneuvering from Sanji, Cracker quickly took to him and allowed himself to be loved.Public displays of affection are still strictly off limits for Cracker. In front of others, he will only allow Sanji to hold his hand or rest his head against him. If he’s feeling extra mushy, he will let Sanji ride on his back. Kissing, hugging, lovey-dovey talk, and everything in between are not received well in public. In private, however, Cracker has taken a liking to being treated gently. It took a lot of boundary-breaking on Sanji’s part starting the very first night they met, but the more Cracker was put in a vulnerable place, the more he found that he was missing tenderness that he needed. Simple actions like Sanji washing and brushing his hair, making him a thoughtful meal, and holding him throughout the night without questioning his masculinity make Cracker the happiest.Cracker’s love language is gift giving and physical touch. He is very crafty with both biscuit and wood, and will hand carve gifts for his loved ones. He likes to surprise Sanji with a hug or a wet kiss to the cheek, and will hold Sanji when he needs it.SanjiSanji is, as always, a true romantic. He doesn’t fawn over Cracker like he does to women, but he still shows his love loudly. He cooks meals for Cracker with extra care as he did for Nami or Robin, and kisses him whenever and wherever possible (Usually his knuckles due to the difference in height). He has tried to dance with Cracker on multiple occasions, but it never goes well. He makes sure that Cracker knows he is loved with both his words and actions. He knows how guarded Cracker is - he could tell from the start - and is always working to break his barriers.Sanji’s specialty is acts of service, though he also sweet talks enough to make anyone blush. Flustering Cracker is a favorite pastime of his. He typically refers to Cracker as “Sweetheart”, “My love”, or “Darling”. He is a huge flirt, but he definitely plays up his flirting for his own amusement. After becoming comfortable in his relationship, Sanji began to explore his more effeminate side. Inspired by his time on Kamabakka Island, he dabbled with makeup and womens clothing and found that he felt pretty. Sanji fully expected Cracker to react poorly, but he wasn’t really given a reaction at all. Cracker will call Sanji a “Pretty thing” when he’s dressed nicely, but nothing beyond that. Sanji still identifies as male, but is more than a little queer.

The Children

Charlotte JammieJammie is one of Sanji and Cracker’s twins. She shares physical attributes with Cracker and his sister Angel. She has purple hair similar to Cracker, and blue eyes with curly eyebrows like Sanji. Her hair is always pulled into two low, unruly pigtails as both an adult and a child. As a child, she was extremely mischievous and always seemed to get herself into trouble. She was too smart for her own good, and manipulative enough to reel her other siblings into her plans. She would only listen to and obey Sanji, but that was mostly because he was the only one that really enforced rules and punishment. Cracker tended to laugh her antics off and landed himself in trouble as well.As an adult, Jammie is a ship doctor for a pirate crew. She was inspired by her fathers’ stories of piracy and the trouble they had gotten into prior to starting a family. She went into medicine because she enjoys how much thought she can put into diagnoses and treatment. Learning the human body, how it is broken, and how it can be fixed is great mental exercise for her. Jammie is known as being ill-tempered, rude, and a bit cruel. Despite this, she is still a good caregiver when it comes to treating her wounded crewmates - she’ll just run her mouth about how stupid they are for getting hurt. If she isn’t being completely uncouth, Jammie can be funny, courageous, and protective of her friends.

Charlotte GrahamGraham is the other twin of Sanji and Cracker. He looks almost entirely like Sanji, though his nose resembles Linlin’s. His hair is styled covering one of his eyes like the Vinsmoke children, and it's a light purple. His eyes and eyebrows resemble Sanji’s.As a child, Graham struggled with communication. He hardly spoke for the first few years of his life, and Jammie often spoke over him even when he tried to speak for himself. Once he did speak regularly, he had a stammer and speech impediment that was worked through over several years. He was awkward and liked to hide behind one of his parents (usually Sanji) in public spaces, but once he was comfortable around his extended family he came out of his shell. He was a very loving child that would offer hugs to everyone he met, and would get roped into Jammie’s shenanigans frequently because he knew it would make her happy. (He also liked the mischief, but that’s a secret). As an adult, Graham becomes a traveling documentarian. He studies other cultures, documents current and past historical events, and learns all of the world's languages. He had always been an avid writer and spent much of his childhood with his nose in a book. This, paired with the stories his father told him about the beautiful places he explored as a member of the Strawhat Pirates, lead to Graham’s decision to set sail and learn about the world for himself. He had been traveling solo for about a year when he made a trip to Alabasta where he would meet his future wife, Felicity. She was a local tour guide that was showing Graham around when they became interested in one another. She would leave her life in Alabasta behind to explore the world with Graham, and two years later they would welcome their son, Charlotte Taralli.Personality-wise, Graham didn’t undergo much change in adulthood. He will always be the timid, quiet kid he was. But he is loving, intelligent, and gentle as well.

Charlotte Soramamé (Sora)Sora was a complete surprise and a shock for the family. Believing that he was infertile, Cracker and Sanji threw caution to the wind - a choice that they would actually not regret making. At no point did Cracker believe that he was pregnant until he was ejecting her from his body. He had become unbearably sick and was constantly in pain for several months, but assumed that there was no underlying cause. Naturally, Cracker refused to see a doctor. It wouldn’t be until he was actively in labor that he would seek medical intervention, and he gave birth to Soramamé shortly after. She was born eight years after the twins, and would be the last of the children.Graham and Jammie had been named by Cracker. The names were decided after Big Mom gave Cracker the order to have a child, and Sanji had no say in the matter. For Sora, however, Cracker didn’t have a name. He hadn’t exactly had time to think of one. Because of this, he looked to Sanji for a suggestion. Sanji had always wanted to honor his mother, Vinsmoke Sora, but he couldn’t bring himself to break the food-centric naming scheme that Cracker had tried so hard to maintain in his own mothers honor. So, with careful consideration, Sanji decided to name their baby Soramamé; A compromise.Sora has the same face and eye shape as Linlin and Cracker’s other sister, Custard. Her nose and eyebrows match Sanji while her eye color is the same as Cracker’s. Her curly pink hair is the same as Linlin’s.Soramamé was the golden child. She was quiet, polite, sweet, and a bit naive. With her siblings being much older than her, Sora often played by herself. She would try to get their attention almost daily, but, unfortunately, they were in two completely different phases of life. Sora’s fathers were always happy to play with their baby, though. As a teen into adulthood, Sora began her dive into music. What started off as writing lyrics occasionally and trying her hand at guitar became near-mastery at a handful of instruments including guitar, drums, violin, cello, and her personal favorite: The bass guitar. She loves Soul King Brook and never believes Sanji when he tells her that he used to be in the same pirate crew as him. He has even shown pictures to Sora and got Brook to send her an autographed poster, but she still isn’t sold. She has her own metal band - BreakFast - with several of her friends. She is the lead vocalist, and can scream better than some grown men. She also plays a white bass guitar that was a gift from Sanji. Before becoming big enough to begin touring in her late 20’s, Sora worked in Sanji’s restaurant as a waitress while playing gigs on the side. Out of all of their children, Sora misses her parents the most after moving away. She visits them frequently, and moves to another island with Sanji after Cracker’s passing.

Final Notes

The relationship between Sanji and Cracker originated from an arrangement that neither of them really wanted and turned their lives upside down. Despite this and the countless other battles they would overcome, they came out as stronger, well-rounded, and arguably better people. Together, they faced the negative consequences of their upbringing and the effects it had on their outlook on life and behavior. For Cracker, he tackled his lack of vulnerability and empathy for others. For Sanji, he tackled his insecurities with gender and sexuality, eased some of the residual trauma from his childhood, and found a loving family in the Charlottes that he had not had as a child and briefly had in adulthood with Zeff and the Strawhats. They couldn’t change their pasts, but sometimes changing the behavior it caused can make things feel a little better. With Cracker’s confidence and Sanji’s empathy, they raised some decent children that wouldn’t ever feel like they did.

FAQ

“Why?”Simple, really! For reasons that I don’t really know, I tend to see myself in Cracker. We are very different, but there’s something about him that has always spoken to me. I suppose it’s the same reasons why so many tend to gravitate towards Katakuri, but Cracker spoke to me more because of his boisterous, almost silly nature. As for pairing him with Sanji: he is my biggest comfort character. He brings me so much joy that I couldn’t even begin to put it into words. I truly believe that, if he were real, he would be able to soothe every aching part of my soul. And so, during a low point in my life, I decided to let him do just that through Cracker. If Cracker ever feels out of character I do apologize. It’s just me slipping through the cracks, I suppose.“Isn’t the age gap/size difference/arrangement problematic?”I don’t think so! They are legal adults, size differences are common in One Piece, and throughout my stories both Sanji and Cracker have given one another ways out. Everything they end up doing is completely consensual and done in sound mind. Big Mom tried to force them, obviously, but in the end they made the decision to not run away. That being said, it is completely understandable if any of these concepts make you uncomfortable! If you don’t want to engage in it, I won’t be upset. Always put yourself and your comfort before any stupid ship someone makes up online :)

None of this would have been possible without the love so many people have shown this ship. It has come much further than I could have ever imagined, and I hope to continue building and expanding this AU that I love so much. Today, a shitty Wikipedia knockoff. Tomorrow, who knows?
